Below is an example of comparing a 13 SEER A/C unit with an 92% AFUE propane furnace vs a new 15 SEER / 8.5 HSPF heat pump (use the built in map to obtain degree day information for your area). Our sample cost analysis indicates the 15 SEER heat pump will save $978 per year, the system will cost $7600, and delivers a 1.2 year payback or 81.6% return on the investment if the buyer opts for the heat pump.

This tab sizes the equipment and selects the blower cfm for best temperature and humidity control, adjusts the capacities for altitude, determines the available static pressure for the duct system and determines the amount of auxiliary heat needed if a heat pump is used.
